Acid burns are caused by acids found in products such as toilet cleaners, batteries, and chemicals used in industry. Both acid solids and acid liquids can cause burns. How bad the burn is depends on the type and strength of the acid and how long the acid is in contact with your skin. The damage is usually kept to the area of contact, but in some cases can be severe.
