Salpingitis

Salpingitis is inflammation of the fallopian tubes, which lie between the uterus and the ovaries. It is most often caused by an infection of the female reproductive organs called pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

Salpingitis may cause dull, cramping pain in the lower belly, fever, abnormal vaginal discharge, and fertility problems. Antibiotics are used to treat the condition. In rare cases, surgery may be needed.
