Frequently asked questions

Primary care is the first point of contact for patients in the health care system. It focuses on preventing, diagnosing and managing a wide range of health issues. A primary care provider helps maintain your overall health, coordinates specialist care when needed and ensures continuity of care.

We provide a comprehensive evaluation of your overall health and a review of any concerns you may have.

We measure your vital signs (including blood pressure, heart rate and temperature). Then, your primary care provider reviews your medical history, including any medications you're taking and past illnesses or surgeries. Your provider listens to your current health concerns and conducts a physical examination. The exam may include checking your heart and lungs, examining your abdomen and assessing any areas of concern.

Depending on your age, gender and medical history, your provider may recommend certain screenings or tests, such as blood work or vaccinations. You'll have the opportunity to discuss any health goals or lifestyle changes you'd like to make, and your provider can offer guidance and support.

Yes. If you need more specialized care, we can connect you to experts in oncology, orthopedics, women’s care and many more — all within our health system.

It's recommended to visit your primary care provider annually for a wellness checkup. However, you should schedule additional appointments as needed for new symptoms, follow-ups or managing chronic conditions.

You’ll receive a comprehensive health evaluation and have the chance to discuss any concerns. Your visit begins with measuring vital signs like blood pressure, heart rate and temperature. Then, your provider will review your medical history, including medications, past illnesses and surgeries. They will address your current health concerns, perform a physical exam—checking your heart, lungs and abdomen—and assess any specific issues. Based on your age, gender and history, they may recommend screenings, blood work or vaccinations. You can also discuss health goals or lifestyle changes, with your provider offering guidance and support.

Yes. Even if you're healthy, a primary care provider helps you stay on track with preventive care, monitors your health over time and serves as a trusted resource if you develop a medical issue in the future.

Contact your provider’s office to request a medical release form. A signed, completed release form is required, and a fee may apply.
