Kevin E. Lofton

Kevin E. Lofton has been a champion of healthy communities throughout a distinguished career that spans more than four decades. His passion stems from a lifelong commitment to social justice and health equity for all—particularly those who are underserved and vulnerable.

Prior to the formation of CommonSpirit Health, Kevin served as CEO of Catholic Health Initiatives, leading the nation’s third-largest nonprofit health care system since 2003. He previously was the CEO of two university hospitals, and chief operating officer of a third. In 2007, Kevin chaired the board of trustees of the American Hospital Association, the nation’s largest hospital trade association. The following year, he was instrumental in creating the organization’s Equity of Care initiative, designed to help address disparities in care for ethnic and racial minorities. His diverse board service experience includes membership on bioscience, retail, professional association, civil rights, and community-based boards.

Kevin has been named to Modern Healthcare magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in Healthcare” list 14 times. He also was included in Ebony magazine’s “150 Most Influential Blacks in America” in 2007.
