Interim Senior Vice President of Operations and President, South Region

Matt Brown serves as CommonSpirit Health’s Interim South Region President and Senior Vice President of Integration and Transformation Officer for Operations. 

In these roles, Matt leads the continued growth of the South Region, as well as the ministry’s enterprise-wide operations alignment initiatives. He also manages the operational implementation for major strategic, clinical and operational transformation initiatives. 

CommonSpirit is committed to transforming health care and building healthy communities. The work that Matt leads is instrumental in achieving both of these goals. He applies his considerable strategic and managerial skill sets to ensure that the ministry is translating its strategic priorities into operational success, increasing and enhancing efficiencies, and ensuring that the appropriate focus is maintained to achieve optimal results. 

During his time at CommonSpirit, he served as Houston Market President and Mountain Region President. Prior to joining the ministry, Matt was Managing Director of Navigant Consulting’s Healthcare Operations Practice. In this role, he helped large health systems systematically improve quality metrics and optimize their corporate and shared services functions. Matt has led significant and highly successful work focused on clinical process improvement, workforce efficiency, supply chain optimization and overall operational transformation management. Prior to his time at Navigant Consulting, Matt held senior positions with FTI Consulting (Annapolis, MD), University of Tennessee Medical Center and Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University Medical Center in Saint Louis, MO.

Matt received his master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Kansas and his bachelor’s degree from Truman State University. He has served as a member of the Tennessee Center for Disruptive Performance Improvement and was an examiner for the Tennessee Quality Award.
