Executive Vice President, Physician Enterprise

Tom’s accountabilities include physician integration strategy, physician enterprise operations, population health management and clinical integration.

As Executive Vice President of the Physician Enterprise, Tom is responsible for the executive leadership and strategic direction of the Physician Enterprise’s clinical and business operations across 24 states, including over 6,000 employed providers, 1,100 ambulatory care sites and 22 value-based organizations. In addition to overseeing all physician enterprise employment models, he is accountable for advancing clinical integration and population health management, including developing strategies that facilitate physician alignment and provide fully integrated, high-quality, and cost-effective health outcomes. As a practicing internal medicine physician and physician leader, Tom is a distinguished clinical researcher and evidence-based medicine expert recognized by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) for his efforts to improve health care, promote evidence-based medicine and reduce wasteful spending. Before CommonSpirit Health, he served as Deputy Physician-in-Chief and Senior Vice President of Physician Network Operations at Northwell Health. While at Northwell, he also held positions as founding chair and professor at the Department of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University/Northwell. Tom is a Professor of Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine and a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Creighton University, a medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn and a Master of Public Health from Columbia University. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Bronx Municipal Hospital Center.
