CHICAGO – May 11, 2023 - CommonSpirit Health has appointed Sheri Shapiro as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, effective June 5, 2023. Shapiro will report to CEO Wright Lassiter, III.
Shapiro brings more than two decades of visionary leadership to her new role, in which she will advance many national functions at CommonSpirit. These include market strategy and development, growth and partnerships, strategy transformation, innovation, marketing and communications, brand management, the international division, sales and payer strategy.

Shapiro joins CommonSpirit from Trinity Health, where she was Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. Her role there included leading strategy, growth, business development, mergers, acquisitions and partnership development. She also led Trinity Health’s innovation program, which identifies, evaluates, and invests in organizations and new ideas that can be implemented and scaled to advance the health system’s capabilities and services. Becker’s Hospital Review named her one of the 50 Great Health System Chief Strategy Officers in 2022.

Shapiro began her healthcare career as a consultant for CSC Healthcare, formerly APM Management Consultants. Shapiro later joined The Chartis Group, where she advanced to partner and was a strategic advisor to healthcare CEOs and senior executives on enterprise strategy, growth, physician alignment, partnerships and value-based care initiatives. Shapiro’s career experience also includes brand and product management roles at Ford Motor Company, where she led the go-to-market strategy and marketing of the Ford Escape and Escape Hybrid SUV product lines.
Shapiro holds an MBA with honors in healthcare management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in biopsychology with distinction from the University of Michigan.
