CHI Memorial Academic and Faculty Affairs

Our Academic and Faculty Affairs team advances medical education, clinical research and professional development, fostering a culture of lifelong learning and innovation.

Our Nurse Residency Program is designed to support and develop newly graduated nurses as they transition into professional practice. Through a comprehensive blend of hands-on training, mentorship and continuing education, residents gain the skills and confidence needed to deliver exceptional patient care.

The CHI Memorial Nurse Fellowship Program is accredited as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.

Launched in June 2020, the fellowship program was designed to provide structured training for experienced nurses transitioning into critical care roles without prior intensive care experience. In fall 2023, the program expanded to include the emergency department, offering nurses comprehensive preparation for high-acuity environments.

Our Pharmacy Residency Program is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and supportive learning environment for residents to enhance their clinical and professional skills.

PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on the foundation of a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, preparing clinical pharmacists to provide medication-related care for patients with diverse conditions. Graduates of the program are eligible for board certification and postgraduate year two (PGY2) residency training.

This 52-week month program equips residents with competencies in:

  • Patient care: Delivering safe, effective and evidence-based medication management
  • Advancing practice and improving patient care: Driving innovations to enhance outcomes
  • Leadership and management: Developing skills to lead teams and manage resources
  • Teaching and education: Sharing knowledge through education and mentorship
  • Pharmacy research: Conducting research to contribute to the profession

Cardiovascular sonographers perform transthoracic echocardiograms and support cardiologists in conducting noninvasive procedures, stress echocardiograms and other specialized studies. This career requires expertise in human anatomy, pathology, physics, equipment optimization and patient care.

Graduates of the program will be eligible to earn nationally recognized credentials in adult echocardiography and vascular imaging, essential for employment in most health care institutions.
